Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Eh up Rob.

Glad that the 18580 is still going strong.
Looks real good.

You pre-empted me a little in that I was going to suggest throwing this thread open to all 18-series washers and 17-series dryers (including the original Liberators) - try and get as much imagery of these great machines as possible.

I'll start the ball rolling with the machine from the same series as RobM's and upon which mine and Rob's 18361 is based on.........

What was Hotpoint thinking, those bloody soft toys in the early 70’s and 80’s adds are scary!! Could have had some nice blond girls instead.

Thought I d post some of the days other festivities.

Making a Hotpoint Raspberry Mousse - was so tempted to serve it in a spare Purple Liberator Bowl of ours.

Recipe as follows.

It sounds an awful concoction buy my Great Gran made this occasisionally and I have a fondness for the odd taste.

1 large tin of Ideal Milk, Evap, Carnation
1 Tablet of jelly - your choice of flavour.

Whisk the Evap in a mixer until it is as stiff as you can get it - it triples quadruples in size and becomes all foamy.

Melt the jelly in the microwave with 1 tablespoon of water until melted.

Whisk into the frothy Milk and when evenly mixed pour into a bowl and chill until cold and set.

Serve!

Haha! My Dad made that mousse when i was younger! He called it "Orange Fluff" with orange jelly.

His method was just melt the jelly in microwave, add to milk and whisk. I tried it and it was a bit flat. I'll try your great grans' way next time i make it.

Forgot to mention one minor/major detail that was quite odd.

When all the fettling had been done we were just about to litterally at that precise second place the dial back onto the machine after everything else had been done and the machine was restored I caught a tune coming from the radio which was kinda freaky.

This actual Hotpoint model was the machine RIA had in one of the series of Butterflies.....

The song that the local station (Signal 1 102.6fm) played was from 1982.

the song...... Rio, Duran Duran.

Ria, Rio, 1982......

Go figure LOL!

Hotpoint......Only Liberator Has Them all...!!!

Nice work guys, the pair looked and sounded just like they where on the showroom floor all those years ago....I often wonder if this series of machines had had a solid metal backpanel instead of the polyplastic one, would they have lasted longer!!!, a simple, easy to use machine, using all the HLCC programmes of the day, the detergent dispenser was so simple & smooth sided that build up of crud wasnt an issue!!! and Ohhhh that Hotpoint whooooshhhhh!!!!

Nowthen Rob, just cut back on that slick of conditioner!!! on the other hand the excess should oil that machine forever!!!

Paul, its gonna cost you!! dont forget I have the only photos of you two together + machines!!!! highest bidder seems the pics!!!...Lol

Cheers, Mike
