but a load of elbow grease from Rob produced quite a radical change in appearance (this was actually after the drum had received some experimental repair work and had been resealed - hence the shinyness around, what we asume is, the suds breaker bar...

The drum was all that needed doing to the machine.
It had had a quick spin test, back in Cardiff, a few months before, so we knew that it was capable of operation.
In fact the bearings are totally sound, with no movement or hint of rumble, and the motor has some of the cleanest windings that Rob and our mate have ever seen.
As such, the drum and backplate were reattached and water tested, via a watering can.
Some tinkering later, the machine was placed on 'the carpet' to be put back together...

the backplate is immaculate, with absolutely no issues whatsoever and looks a treat.
n fact the machine is generally, barring the outer tub and front kickstrip (which will be dealt with), immaculate.....

Whils the other guys dealt with the mechanical side of things, I dealt with the cleaning and polishing.
The machine had a general application of grime and grubbery about it.
As it was taken apart, I gave each panel a cleanup, leaving the outer cabinet sides and lid till last.
The front panel cleaned up to 98% factory fresh immaculate, with no damage, dings or rust on either the front or, rather surprisingly, the back.....

Water Levels
Just found a pic of the 2nd wash we did and its water level,
Was a good full load of 4 x excellent quality 5' x 4' bath sheets.
The water is flavoured with Biological Persil Powder,

that is such a nice example, the inner drum is pretty good aswell, all my Hoovers have had similar rust problems, de-rust and epoxy resin soon sorts that out.
it just so nice to see all this work and the excellent end result.

Ps on another link of yours i thought i saw a Hoover tumble dryer that matched my A3110 was i correct ?
that is such a nice example, the inner drum is pretty good aswell, all my Hoovers have had similar rust problems, de-rust and epoxy resin soon sorts that out.
it just so nice to see all this work and the excellent end result.

Cheers for the kind words - yep, we used epoxy (I think it was that anyway) but, in the medium term, may try something a little harder.
Has sorted the machine on a temporary basis kind of thing.

re the dryer - yep you did see the matching (kind of) dryer. I say kind of because the D6074 dryer had the same coloured facia as the A3108 electronic 800. The matching dryer for the A3110/A3112 and A3114 was the D6096 Creaseguard machine, which had the same brown styling and looked really rather good!
The picture of the D6074 can be found on the 95620 restoration thread.

We feel so pleased with what we have achieved with the help of a friend,,,,
Its hard work and the fine detailing can be the worst part opposed to the heavy mechanical stuff.
Its all worth it especially when you get the show off the machines and you know a good job has been done when 'The Appliance King' is pleased too LOL!
