Maximum Spin Time In Hoover TT?

Just wondering the recommended spin time in a Hoover TT extractor basket. Modern spin driers like "Spin X" recommend only a three minute max duration, and indeed some shut off automatically at that point. My Hoover manual only states to spin "unitl water no longer drains from the hose". Well that could be 1-2 minutes for light weight items, or three minutes plus for heavy things.

Am interested in knowing as do not wish to over tax the motor and cause problems like premature failure or wearing down.

According to the owners manual...

For the initial spin, it says to spin until water is removed from the clothes.

For rinsing, it says again, spin only long enough to remove the water from the clothes. "Spinning clothes for long periods or letting them remain in the spin basket may cause wrinkling."

No specific times are listed.

You can follow the manual's advice or....

...you can let it spin until the machine gets dizzy and comically bumps into walls and furniture as it tries to walk away.

At anything over 1500 rpm, 1-1/2 to 2 minutes are usually more than sufficient for spins between wash & rinse or between rinses. For final spin, 3 - 4 minutes are usually sufficient. The UK Hoovers were about 3,000 rpms, the US ones were about 1,600 to 1,800, so the times could probably be adjusted down by a minute or so.

According to the users...

4 mins end of spin for cottons, until the water stops running for rinsing (1 / 2 mins), or 30 secs for lights / synthetics.

UK Servis Twinnys 2,800rpm
Creda / Frigidaire spinners 2,800
UK Hoover twinnys 2,300 rpm
Camper Twinny 1,600rpm

If you do leave them in longer they will extract more(minutely) and then start to heat up with the top of the drum clothes practically warm dry.

Actually, DesignGeek, American Hoover TTs spin at 2,800 if I remember my owner's manual correctly. Maybe you are thinking of the Maytag twin tubs?

Thanks for the replies. As previously stated my owner's manual is pretty vague on final spin time, but have found a max three minutes is best for heavier things. Truly amazing that even after a high speed spin in a front loader, a Hoover still extracts even more water. Only wish the extractor basket were larger so finish large towel loads sooner.

Also, it seems TT's like front loaders are picky about what surface they like when spinning. Have to find just the right spot on the floor when setting up, and the unit purrs like a kitten. Put her in the wrong spot and she shakes, rattles and otherwise makes her displeasure known.

Really wonderful, simple machines these twin tubs.
