1979 Maytag 806 Washer

Hi Raymond, and welcome to AW, The 806 is a good choice for something vintage and yet very usable and fairly easy to repair.

 

The other great thing about this washer is the matching dryer is much better than the earlier MT HOH dryers in terms of performance, safety, capacity and repairablity.

 

It should be fairly easy to fix this MT washer, the tub bearing and seal kits are still available and even if you can't get the agitator out easily it is easy to just brake it out, these agitators are still a dime a dozen, we threw  out out two MT center dial washers last week alone and I don't even bother to save the agitators [ have too many already ] so if you need any thing let me know.

The Firestone I sold years ago. It was made by someone for Firestone, I'm thinking Admiral was the source.

Ah, that makes sense. I wouldn't have thought they would take the time to make it themselves. Still kind of strange that they even thought to have a model made up so that they could slap their name on it. Tires = Refrigerators?...I don't see anything wrong with that equation...
