Trying to clean out a rental storage unit bringing crap home to the garage brought the A 107 home plugged her in to do a test spin she ran for less than a min then died u could hear the motor click when it did waited a few secs heard the motor click again and it did the same thing again any ideas guys hate to get rid of it clean machine It has been in storage about 2 yrs ran when it went in any help appreciated

Were you using an extension cord that was then plugged into a wall outlet or was the machine plugged directly into the wall socket?

I have heard serveral times that a mahcine wil cut in and out if it's hooked up via an extensino cor rather than plugging it in directly to a wall socket.

If you have no socket, have you also no drain? Meaning it's running bone dry from 2yr storage? I wouldn't do that at all. It's possible to destroy the pump.

this morning

moved her to a wall outlet did the same thing , had a idea took the front off reached under and took belts off ran like a charm seems the tub is not turning as freely as it should any suggestions?
thx in advance

did what i should have done

1st put about 4 gallons of boiling hot water in her let it sit after about 30 mins it would wash perfectly but still wont spin

bypassing lid switch and no spin

That won't solve the problem on Maytags.;  The safety lid switch stopped all action when the lid was raised, agitation or spin.

What I have had happen in the past when buying these old machines that have sat for several years is the brake sticking to the lining. After removing the belts, spin the main transmission pulley counterclockwise (looking at the pulley from underneath) by hand. The pulley should turn with a bit of "springy" resistance. Once you overcome that, the tub should begin to spin. When the lining sticks, sometimes you have to violently jar the pulley counterclockwise until the brake lining gives way. I've had to do this to 3 of my washers.

I used an extension cord with my 806 and never had any probl

I've gotten away with heavy gauge extension cording that's under 20 feet long myself for testing out in the garage.

I use the same extension cord to test Hobart KitchenAids, especially when testing Sani heating operation and temps.

on vacation

this week headed out of town will work on her next week
thx for all the help guys the hot water did loosen it up a bit
spray a little wd 40 on the pulley?

this aft

I tried 4 more gallons of nearly boiling water that loosened her up some more got about 3 turns of the tub before she quit when it did run it had a weird kinda clanky noise coming from underneath

Something still isn't right.

Have you checked the motor carriage for proper operation?

It should slide smoothly in both directions and spring backwards when pushed by hand towards the transmission.

When set to the spin cycle, the carriage should move almost all of the way forward to allow the belt to slip.

Thanks for

the correction Bob (lid switch)
I had forgotten about that with the Maytag! been so long since I had one! but now I remember it stopping during agitation when lid was raised.

Ron where are the pics!

12 Series machines would fill with the lid open, but would not agitate/spin.

The older models were completely dead with the lid open.

I think Maytag changed this with the introduction of the infinite water level slider. It's difficult to get the desired water level in real time if everything comes to a halt with an open lid. I do believe 10 and 11 series washers were still completely dead with an open lid. I bet customers who had the infinite water level switch option complained about that and Maytag implemented the new design with the introduction of 12 series washers. Just a guess though.

Dan

Mine must have been a 12 series because Im almost sure it filled with the lid up, but did nothing after, unless lid was down. (unless I stuck a pencil or something in the lid switch)
They (washer and dryer) were the cooper tone. Washer had a grey tub, (not very big if IIRC) small med large, load selector. Hot warm cold selector for wash, no selection for rinse (all cold) No Dash light. and for the life of me I cant remember the model # of that washer?

There was a lady appliance repair shop here Anne's Maytag, if anything went wrong, I'd call, and in a gruff kind of voice she'd say "what model number it it"... Id tell her, and she'd say sharply "well what's it doing"... Id tell her, and she'd tell me what was wrong, what to fix, and what part I needed! Then she'd tell me to come out to her house to get the part. The geese around her house would come charging out at me! she come walking down her driveway yelling at the geese to "go on away from here".. and hand me the part, tell me to go home and put it on! I asked her once "but Anne, what if I can't " then she yell " well then call me and I'll talk you thru it" One time I did, and she kept her word, she stayed on the phone with me the whole time, tell me everything do do, and not to do!
It always worked! she always made the correct diagnoses! she just was old, and would not come to the house to repair herself, unless there was ABSOLUTELY no other way!
She was hilarious! I learned a lot from her! I miss her now, and of course miss the Maytags LOL

found the probelm

tried turning the pulley no resistance, so while i was down there put belts back on tried the motor glides, cranked her up put my foot against the motor ran just fine so i guess its a motor glide problem, shot a little oil on each side of the glides its not springing back well
