I can't imagine this will be around for long. Perfect for a couple starting a family, if, they realize the quality
level and performance of this most basic machine.
I found my 1964 A300 new in the box and she is still a great daily driver.

@appnut: Do you know what year this washer was made or when they went to short stroke? I've always assumed this style of control panel came with a long stroke transmission.

Orbital transmission debuted in July/August 1989. This washer was made somewhere between mid 1989 to 1993. I can't read the serial # in picture #4.

Dan thank you for providing the transition date to Orbital Transmission. Chet, I assumed it was the good ol' Helical until this morning when I really studied the agitator and discovered it was essentially the turquoise color veersion of the agitator in my mom's 1994 Dependable Care Plus washer.

This is definitely priced about right, it could actually sell for three times this price easily if somebody realized its actual value. It would be a good washing machine for people who don’t demand much in terms of performance, capacity and fully automatic performance.

@dan- Phew! Thats a relief. Glad the fuse came later.

 

@appnut- I assumed the same originally when first saw the listing. I personally prefer the pitman transmission over the orbital.

I found one of these a few years ago on CL for $75 in exceptional condition.  I hadn't used a standard capacity Orbital Maytag so brought it home to play with for a while.  I was pretty impressed with it overall, not fancy but perfectly satisfactory performance.  Maytag agitators worked great in the standard capacity washers and were a bit anemic in larger tubs, this one was no different.

Probably exactly what my aunt bought, brought home like that and also installed when her speed queeen broke, and probably steps down feature-wise, but maybe good enough machine that she still has...

Its a Maytag

Id run away real fast!! Unless you are going to put it on a perfectly level cement floor, it will walk all over, at least every one of the 6 Maytags i had did!!! Id as soon wash on a washboard.

Hans, my mom never had any problem with our Maytag A207 walking. It was on a concrete basement floor, but that floor was anything but level. The washer however was properly leveled with its adjustable feet tightened correctly.
