Maytag a206 and a kenmore calypso

got a A206 today off craigslist when I went to pick it up he had a Kenmore Calypso also asking 40 for her said it leaked and u guessed it i came home with both. After looking under the Kenmore the hose fron the bottom of the tub to the pump was off not a classic machine but always wanted to see one wash. the Maytag was fine except for lid balls. tag was 30 bucks and clean

that would be the machine I grew up with and the reason I'm on this site. cold warm hot - pilot light - ra ga- small medium large

Had the same one, although no pilot light, or even the faux fixture.

The Calypso is identical to mine. I also grew up with that Maytag, it lasted almost 30 years.

CALYPSO WASHER

There were only two different models of the KM calypso and the 2nd one didn't even have the Calypso name on it and there was only version of the WP calypso made. The Calypsos were very badly marketed in fact the marketing was much worse than the machine. The main problems were 1 using the same for the WPs & the KMs 2 only having one model in each line [ people like having a choice not being told there it is take it or leave it ] 3 the big FL washers came out about the same and got all the attention people don't like having to think in this country about such things as washers. So if you wanted a high efficiently washer you automatically went to a front loader we have the same problem with politics in this country people want simple solutions and don't want to think about things too much, but I won't go there in this thread.

tried the calypso today

Did some redneck washing today on the back of the truck, reconnected the hose it shot off again mid rinse so i was glad it was outside but it cleaned like a dream and spun out to damp dry so far pleased with it didnt get a chance to play with the A206

that calypso is exactly the same as one i will likely pick up
in the next few days,made in 2002,it is also a leaker.

mine was the hose from the bottom of the tub it shakes when the disk rotates and jerks try a tighter hose clamp
