Maytag A208

I ran into the "rip-off" used appliance store near me and saw a white Maytag A208. There was also a coppertone Maytag dryer (not sure of model or year). The guy says that he is not sure if either one of them work, but would consider selling them for $40.00 each. Of course (it's a Texas thing), the washer has some surface rust on the bottom, but the dryer looks pretty good.

Could anyone tell me what year the washer and/or dryer might be? Is it worth it? Of course, you know that I will bargain with the dude. It's just my nature. ;-)

Offer him $20.The 208 is probably mid 80's,small capacity,nothing fancy.Describe the dryer more.
Not knowing if they work,you might be buying a pig in a poke,to say the least.

The "08" series Maytag never made it to the 1980's. So it's from the 70's. Possibly 1980 at the latest.
It is the small tub. Two speed, I think. (A108 was Fabric-Matic)

I had an A208--

It is a two speed, and standard capacity.

Mine was built like a freaking tank, and utterly reliable. Had it 17 years, no repairs.

Wish I had the space for one!
