I picked this one up from Craigslist, The owner said he thought it was a contact in the timer because it would fill then not agitate,he said it wasn't making any sound at all,so when I got it home I bypassed the fill switch so I could see if that might be the problem, the motor started but still no agitation,so I turned the pulley by hand,in both directions, the tub turns both ways, the agitator won't move separately, he said it was working fine, but they were away for awhile and it wouldn't work when they returned,it doesn't look like it's had a hard life, could the agitator shaft just be seized from not being used? my next step is the take the agitator out and see what the bottom of the tub looks like. I'll post some pics later. Mark

Is the motor pulley spinning when it starts? If not, it might be the motor start switch.

Hi Gsd-dan and Goatfarmer,I think I fixed it, The motor was working fine,I could smell the belt burning because it couldn't turn the tranny pulley,my guess was correct as I stated in my post that the agitator shaft was seized from non use,I pulled the agitator and oiled the shaft, then using a piece of lumber I gave it a few good hits ,then held the drum while turning the pulley in the other direction and it finally turned free and is working fine so far. Thanks, Mark

Keep a very keen eye out for any leaks after busting the shaft loose. If there's a problem, most leaks usually shows up within a couple of loads.
