Maytag A50

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Thanks Martin... I remember you posting this before. How has your homemade belt been working? I might have to try this... What did you use, again? I remember windshield washer line and something else...

I am doing great with them....better with the Maytag than the Hoover, and by that I mean the Hoover now kicks ass, and you have to leave the lid closed while in use.......by design the Maytag has the little horizontal shield which keeps the water in a tidal wave.......

yes, I used windshield washer hose, a small piece of hard tubing used for vacuum lines of a car, and a dab of superglue......this is under a little more tension than the original flopping around, and it does give a nice vigorous wash, too loose and it will flop off the pulleys.......I was also thinking of using air line for an aquarium, a bit smaller in diameter to fit lower into the pulley......

but otherwise, I have been running them a few times a week, and so far no problems.....an inexpensive fix for the most part, but remember to measure with the new hose, and then take off about 1 - 2 inches to create a tension...

let me know how you made out......if you can't find parts, I can send you some

No "Buy it now" button

After a second look, that auction may be no good as there is no button to make the purchase. However, I would contact them to see if they have any left. Perhaps the auction is expired but they didn't all get sold... The history showed two belts sold and eight remaining.

I think the reason there is no "Buy It Now" button is because it is an old auction, not currently in effect(2009). That's probably also why it didn't come up in a search. I'd contact the seller directly and ask it they have any left.

If you do find them, ask them to put a little tension by stretching them a bit......I have a shop here that had a few "in-stock", he pulled them out, went to flex them, and they snapped apart in pieces from dry rot.....ashame, but it happens!

No kidding, Tim. I got a NOS belt for my avocado A50 in Early, Iowa and it broke the first time I used it - it was too old. Then I got what I assume was almost the last (or the very last) belt in stock from pcappliancerepair.com last spring...it's been good. Now I need one for this new acquisition. ;)
