Maytag A502 Washer and Matching Drier

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Last of the era

These look like 65's to me, the last of the wide dryer and the no liner doors. They appear to be in great shape, I have a set of these except my washer is a suds model. These are a set that I really don't want to let go of if avoidable but if I ever do I know where they are going. I was very lucky as the tub and the bakelite agitator in mine are like mirrors still, infact I'm looking for a black powerfin just so I don't dull the bakelite. Anyone looking for a TOL (for a Highlander) set this is it. The indicators above the dials light up and the dryer is electronic. Washer is also a 2-speed with a soak cycle.

I feel sick inside

Well Ralph, it's just as you predicted - they're flipping the house. What's this BS about "nowhere to store them"? They're fine right where they are! Who on AW.org can rescue these? I wish it were me, but there's nowhere plumbed where they could go, and they deserve much better treatment than my wet basement. Help!

It's not all bad.  At least Pam came here for advice, and she is grateful for what was offered.  If these nice Maytags were to be left behind once the house sells, they could easily be declared junk by the new owners and hauled away.  With any luck (and maybe a lower price ;-) ) Pam will have done her part to save the machines.

Larry,

My Mom had a new Speed Queen just like the one in your families barn. Had the blue trim. It was used for nearly 25 years before it gave up and was replaced by a Lady Kenmore Visi Matic beauty. That one did not last as long as the Speed Queen. Would love to find a blue trimmed Speed Queen close to me to restore.

Jim
