All I'm after is the capacity for each machine...I suppose I can convert 15.8 imp gallons to cubic feet using my Canon (metric) conversion calulator, but what about the dryer...the specs manual(yes we still have them) only give the water capacity for the washer. Oh yeah, we don't get a low heat on the dryer, only on or off...and the washer dispenses some grease from time to time onto our clothes, but usually only when we're doing towels. How come Google didn't send me to the MAYTAG site when I queried for specs...? We're thinking of getting new front loading team....what does consumer report say...? although, I'm told they only review products from mnfg's who pay...(thats why they didn't review ACER products)... does CR give top marks to whoever pays the most...?

Your dryer is probaly has an all fabric low heat for each cycle. I looked into buying one with just on and off. The salesman told me there was not a high heat setting on this type of dryer. As far as volume of the dryer that a good question. As far as your washer is concerned is it an extra large capacity or standard capacity (does it have a long lint filter or short lint filter)? I have the manuals from our old Maytag set. I would be happy to get the gallons used and email to you tomorrow via this link. The grease in your washer is most likely coming from a seal that has gone bad between the outer tub and transmission.

Thanks, the dryer has 4 options, all automatic: regular, heavy, damp dry, air-fluff. there is no temp control. Air-fluff sounds like it should be at low temp, but it seems to work at air temp only, therefore is the same as damp dry. the washer capacity is 15.8 imperial gallons (71.9 litres) which I have just discovered is 2.54 cubic feet, small by today's stardards...duvets are difficult to wash in it. we're having a neighbourhood garage sale on Sat...guess I'll put them up for sale...that's all she wrote...
I don't know that a DE 606 has a "low" heat setting,per se.Air fluff is just that,air fluff,no heat.Damp dry is clothes that are still damp(actually more wet).Perm Press and Regular get you heat.The difference I think is the amount of time the element is on.

I also believe that Perm Press on the DE606 gave a longer cool down time at the end of the cycle. Don't mark my word for that. I also believe models after that had a longer end of cyle signal to warn you that the clothes were ready to come out to decrease the possibility of wrinkling.
