Saved from the Krusher.

Toggles and I saved this machine this weekend. We brought it to my house in the back of an SUV and went to work on the clean-up. It was pretty dirty, but, still in great shape and an absolute workhorse.

Motor

Guess it had a bit of bleach dropped on it over time.
We believe that this machine was rebuilt. The tranny is spray painted grey.

The machine functions perfectly and should last at least another 40+ yrs.

Isn't it amazing how some people are when it comes to filth?
Clorox Clean-Up is still pretty cheap.

You got a great machine and I'm sure she will be shining like new when you get through with her!

Congratulations!

Good Deed

Cleaned out the venting for the person we got the Maytag from. His vent was so clogged, he complained that his old Kenmore dryer took way too long to dry the clothes(that is why he got rid of his washer and dryer). Little did he know that his vent was so clogged that he was lucky he did not have a dryer fire. I don't know how the air flow ever got thru the piping. That is how full the duct was filled with lint.
Guess it goes along with the condition of that Maytag.
Some people just don't know what maintenance really means.

My forehead gets bigger and bigger in each picture.. *LOL*

Guuuurll bad lighting in there. Those shadows *SHUDDERS*

Guess who has ME well trained? GadgetBoy was returning the SUV while guess-who broke a nail scrubbing? (Ok it was MY suggestion, but still.......)

The things we do for the luv of washers!

It's funny, but the whole process of seek, attain, win it, secure, transport, install, clean, repair and try-it-out gets easier with each subsequent conquest. [I mean washers, not husbands!]

Methinks there is now a moratorium on Maytags. Time for a Frigidaire or a Whirlpool/Kenmore wig-wag model.

Bigger gap due to use and abuse............

This machine appears to have a rather large gap between the tubs and the lid opening.

Date on back in "magic-marker" states
"OK, 1995". Rebuild date?

It's like a Turkish steam-bath in here.........
My theory is that the rust is due to the long-existing plugged-up dryer vent which may have resulted in a very moist/humid laundry room.

Gary - this is a beauty. I was just reading in the "08 - 10 - 12 Series" repair manual that all the 10 series machines had a built in siphon break - which your machine proudly displayed on the rear shot! Great save ~

Toggs - love the shirt!
