Maytag A806 -- clean

My then wife and I bought an 806 set. They were great, even though the washer had a tough time rolling over sheets and jeans, it was perfect for everything else. She ended up with them after our split, but they only lasted 22 years, with minor repairs.
We bought ours in 1970. We had to special order the gas dryer. One could open the little pilot light door and watch the flame when the dryer was running. I wondered if it would work for roasting wieners for hot dogs.
1970 was a fantastic year for those washers! It had 2 additional rows of holes at the bottom of the tub for better sediment removal (Feb 1968), 4 level water switch (Dec 1968), 1 minute advancing timers with Permanent Press (Feb 1969). Chrome lint filter discontinued Aug 1972, older style bleach injector, chrome trim, and better designed acrylic timer dial...all gone by Jan 21, 1975. Tub light removed Oct 1975.

That's a great looking machine, especially to be nearly 58 years old. I can remember 1968 almost like it was last year. I turned 13 that Summer, and started 8th grade in September.
That looks like another Maytag A-806 avocado washer that was recently posted though without the console fluorescent light…
