My 806 has developed an issue where it will drain out during filling, which causes it to keep filling forever. There are no leaks; it is draining back through the pump and out the drain hose. This happens intermittently. It will run 10-15 loads fine, then the draining issue will happen once or twice, then run fine again for several loads. It has happened at both the wash and rinse portions of the cycle. When the problem occurs, I have to let the machine run through an entire spin cycle to get the draining during fill to stop. The intermittent nature of this has me a bit stumped. It has happened on Permanent Press as well as Regular cycles and all load sizes. Have any of you ever experienced this before?

You know, I haven't thought about siphon action. Thank you for mentioning that. I did move recently and the water connections/drain area is a bit lower here than it was at the other house, however it doesn't seem excessively low. I pulled the hose out of the drain and found that it ran several inches down into the drain pipe. Wonder if it was so far in that it was blocking the pipe off at some point and creating a suction because it couldn't vent?

Washer draining

I had the same problem in the past. The drain hose was extremely tight in the drain pipe with no air space around it. We installed what I believe was called a "siphon break" in the drain hose which solved the problem permanently.

Agree, you'll need a siphon break if the drain hose is positioned too low. Maytag started incorporating siphon breaks into their machines by the 80's and I think they quit using them again sometime in the late 90's.
