Hello everyone,

I figured I would give everyone an update on the Maytag A806. It was making a noise that I could not figure out. Ended up being a flat spot on the drive belt. After replacement with genuine maytag belts all is well!

This is the list of things done to the a806 so far.

Rejuvinated damper pads and new lube
Cleaned injector and replaced hose clamp
New Motor glides and drilled out oil wicks and lubed motor with turbine oil
Adjusted balancing springs to get good tub centering on shutdown
Added lid switch bypass switch (can be turned off easily to put lid switch back in circuit)
Added tub light and old style lid switch
New light starter
Chased threads on leveling legs and new rubber leg caps.

To do list.
I would like the find the chrome moldings that were discontinued and put them back on the washer & dryer.
Get a good picture of the gas logo and print a vinyl transfer of the logo and install on the dryer.

Special thanks to everyone on here who has helped with this project.

Here is a video of a full cycle on my machine. In hindsight, I should have selected an extra large load as the turnover was poor and the tub started to index.

Rollover

Yeah, I made the mistake of the normal load size. If it was that amount of clothes but shirts only or other soft articles I anticipate the rollover would have been great. The beige pants at the beginning are auite stiff. Once I selected extra large load it also rolled over well.

Forgot to mention one other thing done to this machine, I put in sound deadning inside the cabinet. Saw this mod done on one of Eugenes videos and thought it was a neat idea. There is a kit on amazon that has enough material to do one washer for $20.

If you were to put sound deadening inside a Maytag HOH dryer cabinet, it for sure would be a extremely quiet dryer and I considered doing that 2 years ago when I restored my 1973 Maytag DG306 back in 2019.

Sound deadening

The sound deadening did make a difference on the a806, remember my dryer is a dg808 SOH and there isnt much room between the rotating drum and outer shell. I do have a slight rattle in the door that I need to figure out. The dryer is silent otherwise and works very well.
