...and of course half a week into my ownership of this machine, something strange happens! It wont stop filling cold water! ok so what do I do now?!?!!
If the water keeps coming in when you unplug the washer, the water valve is bad, no two ways about it. This is a very easy repair on a Maytag, it's done from the back.
If water keeps coming into the washer even with the water shut off, the A stands for "artesian" and the model would fetch big bucks in drought stricken areas.
You can also get a rebuild kit and replace the rubber pieces, springs and needle valve. In a pinch, try taking the valves apart, and clean them of minerals. Each diaphram has a small hole, not the big center hole. Make sure that the small hole is cleaned out. Best wishes
It depends on the age of the washer and the valve in it. there could be one of at least 5 different inlet valves used on 806 MTs over their production years. Yes some are rebuild-able, but some like the Singer built valves you cannot get any parts for and if it has already been replaced with one of the newer vibration welded together valves you cannot even dissemble it without cutting it into pieces, LOL. I would never waste my time trying to repair a valve that can be had new for as little as $10 and risk another flood or the possibility of other leaks.
On older NLA designs I will rebuild them in a minute.
