Okay, I think my husband finally met his nemesis! He can usually fix ANYTHING. He is a certified engine rebuilder, for Pete's sake!
Anyway, my late 70's early 80's Maytag (Model A806) finally died. When Ed tore it apart, He found a leak (bleach dispenser crack) had frozen the bearing. Okay, so we bought a new motor and installed it.
Our nemesis is the danged agitator. He wants to take it off. I even bought an online repair manual, but it shows a white agitator with a repair screw about 1/4 up from the tub floor. AFter much research, I believe this is a replacement part for the original. Ours is turqoise, and has no such screw! The only possibility is this tiny, maybe 1/4" hole on the base of the agitator.
Please help- how do you get this thing off?
