Hello all,
I am seeking advice. I have a late 1989 A312 that was my grandmothers. A while back it started leaking at the stem seal.
Since I am somewhat attached to this machine, I decided to tear it down and repair it. I have done this repair on Maytag machines before and it's been successful.
As most folks know, Whirlpool is no longer manufacturing the original stem seal kit.
I purchased one of the after-market kits and have been looking at it with a bit of confusion.
The online reading I've been doing about these kits is not promising.
Does anyone have experiences with them that would be helpful for me?
Is it even worth attempting to put the after-market kit into the machine?
In the last two weeks I have been doing various Ebay and other searches trying to find a NOS MAYTAG kit.
So far, no success. I am willing to pay a reasonable amount for one if someone has one they are willing to sell.
What do folks out there have to say/share about this situation?
