I picked up this dryer and the owner complained it would stop turning after a period of time, but other wise the machine is good. He further informed that when this first started to happen he accessed the motor and cleaned the dust and lint from it, which, “helped for a couple of months”, then it started acting up again.

The dryer ran but I didn't test it fully to recreate the problem. I opened it up and replaced the motor. As I was reassembling I noticed the belt went on sorta easy. Then after start up the belt spun on the drum for a second, obviously loose. I ordered a new belt

So my Q is, could the belt have been the only problem with this dryer?
Would really be annoying since I also broke the fan (bloody tight sob!) while I was removing it to replace the motor.[this post was last edited: 2/14/2020-21:38]

Likely was,

we have the same dryer. It's a late 2010 model, and has been great. I replaced the idler pulley, belt, and drum rollers last year when it began squealing. About a $30.00 repair for prats. The kit came with everything.
