I'm not a handy guy, but I'd like to help mom out with the dryer, a Maytag DE 806. I visited her today, and noticed that the door switch makes a buzzing sound. I thought I'd attempt to test the switch, but I couldn't get to it. I was able to lift off the top panel, but couldn't reach the sensor. I'd like to test it, and if it's not working I could hit it with some deoxit. I figure I could replace it, and I'd appreciate any tips you have to share.

Door Switch Buzzing ???
If the DS is buzzing something serious is wrong, there is really no way a DS on this dryer can make a sound and if it does it will only do it for a few seconds as it burns up and shorts out.
You have to remove the entire cabinet to get to the DS, it is located behind the upper door hinge.

It's a PITA, but I have changed the door switch on those Maytags, by removing the top. And as John said, the door switch is silent.
Better to replace the switch than play around with it. They have been obsolete for quite some time now.
