i finally got a Maytag Halo Of Heat dryer! It is not a TOL DE806, or DE906, but it's a DE306 Halo Of Heat electric dryer. I was going to test it out, but the power cord seems to be a bit short, and when I took the back panel off for further inspection, there was a good amount of lint build up in it. The seller claims it was serviced 2 years ago, and there is a surprising amount of lint that had built up since it was serviced 2 years ago back in 2016. I looked at the hearing element, and there was a lint bunny or town in the halo, and maybe it's a good thing I didn't test it out lol. I inspected around the front of the drum/felt seal area, and apprarenrly there isn't a felt seal at all. The felt seal either decentergraded over the years, or the ding-dongs who serviced it last didn't even bother to put a new one on.

Hi Sean, glad you finely got your HOH dryer, these were interesting and fun dryers, they were one of the last old-school dryers that were mass produced in the US so if you like to have something that older in design that can actually still be used this is a good choice.
A lot of the lint inside any dryer comes from leaky exhaust connections and the lint is merely drawn back into the machine with the in coming air.

No Drum seal on the electric version.
The large diameter drum seal on the gas version is there to force the bulk of the incoming air to travel through the burner cone and mixer assembly before entering the drum cover. On gas versions it's a critical feature and the dryer should never be operated without it. If the seal is compromised air will enter the drum through the missing portions, bypassing the burner cone and mixer assembly. This air flow through the burner cone is what causes the flame to lay flat along the center of the cone as it heats the air going by. Reduce that airflow though leaks and the flame will rise up and get the upper surface of the cone red hot. At that point it's a serious fire hazard.
On the electric versions this seal was omitted so that air flow would enter the drum cover around its entire circumference, travel through the heating coil and then enter the drum. As John has pointed out in earlier posts, only the electric versions provided a true "halo of heat." The only felt seal your dryer should have at the front end is around the drums smaller diameter opening and it's there to prevent coins, paperclips and other small objects from falling through the gap and contacting the heating coil.

I will try to look for a Maytag A207 short tub to go with the Maytag halo of heat dryer I just acquired sometime in the near future. It seems like the short tub (standard capacity) Maytags seem to wash, rinse, and spin better for some reason.

Its great that you got one with the better Emerson motor, the EMs were quieter and longer lasting than the WH or GE motors that MT was also using during this time period.

The pictures were taken after I cleaned the inside of the Maytag DE306 halo of heat dryer. I actually cleaned the inside the previous evening before, but I decided to take it apart again to deteal the inside, and I even wiped down the inside so it would be sporless inside.
