I just got a Maytag DE308 and had a question. It runs very quietly except for a little noise when it first starts. My question is how hot is it suppose to get? I put it on Perm Press and set it for Regular Heat and it doesn't seem to get very hot. I mean I can actually grab the exhaust pipe and it is hardly warm. I think this is one of the Halo of Heat models so I'm not sure if it is suppose to get super hot or not. It is ok if it doesn't cause that was my big grip about my cheap hotpoint it seemed to bake the hell out of my cloths. Just would like to know if it is suppose to be like that or not.

Thanks.

I don't know the exact temperature,

but yes, the Maytag Halo-of-Heat dryer (and yours is a fine example,) never does/did get extremely hot.

In all the years of Maytag Halo-of-Heat dryers, and I had 35 years of them, I experienced only minimal shrinkage due to them. My current Maytag dryer, though not designated H-O-H, but "Dependable Care," is also moderate in temperature. I can touch the vent when it's running on high comfortably.

If this is an '08 series dryer with the filter in the front of the door opening, it would be a Big Load dryer. The Big Load dryers came out in 1975 and are easily recognized by a much larger door. Heat enters the back of the drum and flows through the filter at the front. The regualar operating temperature should be around 150-155.

Found the problem!

I found that one of the coils had broken off so I guess that probably would not let the others reach full heat. Called my local parts store and got a new one. Thanks all
