Maytag DE606

So I now have the 220 line in the garage and have connected the DE606 and it is running unfortunately I do get bad rubbing sound sometimes. I assume this is the belts, I did replace both belts a few weeks ago before I ever ran the dryer. Is there some way to make adjustements or what is the best way to determine what is happening?

Sometimes you get a rubbing sound from the front shroud, the drum cover in the front where the heating element is. Check to be sure the felt gasket/seal is in good condition, secured to the shroud, and that the shroud is centered. Be sure the four screws behind the door are secure as well. The other thing to check are the pulleys. Sometimes they get bent and rub against the belts.

Also make sure the blower isn't plugged with lint,and that the bearings in the blower assy.are good.
You also need to have a seperate ground wire attached to the cabinet from a water pipe,etc.Some electronic control Maytag's won't shut off without it.

Still rubbing

I have taken the back off again and checked things out. Taken both belts off and put back on and things seemed to be fine unfortunately they are not. It seems as though the drum is not rotating very well is the drum belt to tight? If so how can I loosen it? The other belt also seems to be to loose. Thanks for your help and support so far.

Maytag dryers don't have rollers in front, the drum is supposed to glide on felt or teflon pads. If the pads get worn then it will be noisy. Sounds like that's the problem with yours. Try removing the front panel and inspecting the glide pads. Replacements should be readily available from a local applaince store.

DE606 would be a Halo of Heat model, it has no support rollers or teflon "bearings".

I'd go with the drum shroud as the most obvious cause, is the dryer level? Test it with the dryer level and the back panel installed as this is an crucial piece of the cabinet that keeps it all square.

Whe I re-did my Halo-of-Heat, I found that the "Felt" in the front needed to be replaced. I belive that is just like Greg said, and kennygf suggested you check the bearing in the blower housing. These machines also have a lot of wiring. Be careful with the all of them, mark them and take your time. I find that taking real close up pictures of things comes back to help on re-assembly if you do not have a service manual.

I found the problem

The motor belt is too loose. I am not sure if it is a bad belt as it is new or the tension spring. I will keep you posted.

Maytag DE and Other chorme trim

I have a maytag A107 and A607 and the chrome has deteriorated in lumps and bubbles around the trim of the panels. What is the best way to restore, if you can reveal the beauty secrets? Is there chome paint?

Chrome paint won't be anywhere close to original.Best bet is to find another console in better shape.
