Maytag Dependable Care

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

I would still rather have an older, say 06 model. There should be dealers or reconditioners who sell them.

Peter, Do you ever remove the access panel or whatever on the top loaders in your 'mat that are oversudsed so much to hose out the residue on the baseplate?

Yay!

The Dependable care is in. Now just making some room.

Should it be Neptune FL, Dependable Care TL and Neptune dryer?

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions:-)

Tom: Let sleeping dogs lie! There are more than enough things that go wrong in a laundromat (store, not Westinghouse) that removing the front panels to clean inside the machine is far, far down low on the list of things to do, so low you might say it isn't even on the list! Unjamming coin jams and keeping the Wascomat drains free of bra wires is a fulltime job in itself!

The Good The Bad and The Ugly

My grandparents came from Holland. Grandma bought a gas powered Maytag from a door to door salesman who delivered it on a horse drawn wagon. Mom got her mother's old Maytag after we got running water.

My mother had a Maytag automatic I purchased in 1972 that was replaced in 1997 when Ernst Hardware went out of business and mom bought the new one, an early plastic tub Performa for 137.00. The old Maytag was gifted to a neighbor. Both washers are still working. One repair on the 72, none on the 97. My mother also has the matching dryer, a Maytag side by side and a Maytag dishwasher. No repairs on any of them

I bought a set in 75, sold it when I moved to the midwest and bought another Maytag in 1979. Last model with a lighted panel before the design change. It still runs, with a daughter's friend. It did have a transmission overhaul in 93. I bought a new Atlantis in 2000. It had a timer replacement under recall, no cost. My ex wife still uses it, no repairs. I had the matching dryers, the first Maytag refrigerator ever sold in Washington state, multiple dishwashes, belt drive and modern, disposers and a Maytag stove. No problems.

My sister just bought a blue Maytag Legacy set, in July, for an amazing set price of $775.00. Stainless tub, autotemp controls, lighted drum in the dryer etc.

Gary, you are immaculate, follow manufacturers recommendations and nurture your appliances. You will be very happy and have no problems with your Maytag Dependable care washer.

Just read every post. For everone that has a bad Maytag experience 400 have a good one. 30 hate shredmores and thier relatives and a million swear by them.

1. Satisfaction is influenced by mind and soul of the participant.
2. Treating any appliance with repect and not stressing it's tolerance lays the foundation for satisfactory performance.
3. None of us are buying a "pig in a poke". Data and opinions abound.
4. There is just no 'splainin some folks.

Colloquialism

A "poke" is an old term for a sack. No one would buy a pig inside a sack and not know it's condition, size, traits, etc. Such a sale or purchase or someone being hoodwinked was called buying a "pig in a poke."

LOL, seriously ~~ :-(

I guess the image that came to mind, after quickly rejecting the beastiality thoughts, was a combination of the 3 posts before this one. (lol)

I was thinking....(my mind is warped I'm sure)
about,
about the young cute southern republican gentlemen who is heterosexually married yet finds himself....
in a
in a .... bent over, bare bottom, predicament... receiving certain... service..... Ah, OH....
How could I go there..... I, I,...I'm just.... (sigh).

Shame on me, I know.
I hope that... I will pray for forgiveness for my sinful thoughts.....I'm, I'm just...
I hope that in writing this out this hole, Ah, I mean whole thought leaves my body.

sigh

Looks great Gary!

My mom has a Dependable care Maytag from 1996(replaced her gold A608set) Mom's is a basic machine, one speed, 3 cycles, 3 temps and infinite water levels. Hard to believe those machines are 10 years old this year, but they are! I don't know that the quality is the same as on the old machine, but mom's never had any problems with the washer or dryer!
Good luck with your new machine!

Wow!

She's a beauty, Gary. Thanks for posting.

As for the slow wash/fast spin, you can do what I did with my A208, which is hang around, turn off the machine, and change the speed settings manually.

(As if most of us would object strongly to hanging around the random cycle!)
