Maytag Dishwasher

I hope I've posted this in the correct Forum. Here's a nice-looking Maytag dishwasher in Atlanta for a cheap price ($25). I'm not sure of the years when this version was produced, but it features the top rack for plates and the bottom rack for pots and pans arrangement.

This is the exact model my aunt has, she LOVES it! She was devastated about a year ago when it broke, luckily, she gave me a call, said it didn't spray, and I told her to check the belt, sure enough, the belt had stretched and she fixed it! She says she will never ever ever let that dishwasher go! YAY!!!

(Luckily, my grandpa has the BOL model, back when that meant it would last longer, and he promised to give it to me at the first sign of trouble cuz he doesn't like how it ROARS! I just love that, best feature of any dishwasher besides cleaning power is how loud it can ROAR!!! lol!)

I agree about the ROAR.
My sister has this dishwasher. The stuff she throws at it is frightning! Bones,metal twist ties,plastic bread tags,you name it.
Nothing seems to hurt it. It is pretty quiet during the wash but come the drain part and it just screams,probably from pain.

This is the exact dishwasher I have and it's running right now. I don't think it's that loud when draining. Just love the sound of it washing. You know there is water moving around in there. Cleans really well and the longest possible combination of cycles doesn't even take an hour to complete. I am taking this dishwasher to the new house when we move. Realtors came in and said the dishwasher and stove were "dated". Both from 1985. I told her I will put new ones in and take the "dated" ones with me. hrmppphfff.

Beware, folks!
"Roaring" Jetclean dishwashers indicate a failing bearing in the power module (pump mechanism). After a period of roaring, the bearing usually freezes up, and the machine is gonzo. I don't know if bearing and/or power modules are readily available anymore. Jetclean machines should be fairly quiet.

Here in America, people seem to refer to anything that's lasted long enough to be paid for as "dated".

I'm glad for it, though- all the stuff other people think is "dated" is stuff that is cheap for me! I just landed a TriStar vacuum cleaner for next to nothing. Those things are two grand new. I'll take a "dated" two-thousand-dollar appliance with next to no use for less than a hundred bucks any day.

I don't think it's the bearings failing, my grandpa's Maytag dishwasher has been ROARING ever since I was an infant if not longer (at least 15 years!) All that has been replaced was the belt!

All the belt-drive Maytag dishwashers I've ever heard were quite loud during the drain phases. The early axially mounted pump and motor was a much quieter design, but a pain to service.

Just saw a very similar model to this behind Menards recently - a WU300 in Avocado. Beautiful machine - if it would have been a portable I would have brought it home. They are still out there.

I was 9 years old when my parents took me to the Maytag/Kitchenaid dealer and they bought that exact model.I did not want it cause I saw the K/a machine and it had that full blown disposer in it they had a pump cut in half.I have always been fascinated with disposers I have 11 of them now the Maytag dishwasher didnt have one at all not even a soft-food one.I begged for the K/a and almost had them talked into it then that guy took out a measure and showed them that the Maytag could hold more it was just a little bit deeper.I Pointed out that the tower negated that and he got mad I guess me being so young I guess he thought I was stupid.I lost and they bought the Maytag and it was a great dishwasher and lasted for 11 years then that bearing went in it.They are NOT quite at all but they do wash well.They also had thoese old Maytag disposers that could grind nails he showed us I was hooked by that.I wanted one of thoese Fc-10 disposers ever sence that and last November I finally got me one and it cost me 330 bucks and its the same age I am.They make nothing like they used to thats for sure if somebody here gets that dishwasher if it squeals when its draining its BAD.You do need to pre-rinse kinda cause that round screen gets clogged if you don't..
