hello,

I just bought this Maytag Wringer Washer. E2LPS Serial Number 211584. Can anybody tell me the age?

thanks

Don't you have a consultant within easy reach there, and didn't he take a picture you could post here???

Or did I just fall for a feigned new member post maybe?  Just wait.  Payback will be rendered when you least expect it!

:-)

David (oakland510) is my partner, so Ralph's wondering why he didn't "go to the source."  :-)

Alas, I don't have this information, so perhaps someone else does?  I was able to locate information on the E2LPS that ballparks it between 1946 and 1983, and the non-cursive Maytag logo (with stylized square M graphic) suggests to us that it's newer than 1966, when the logo we all think of debuted on the Washpower Automatics.  But beyond that, I have no idea how to decode the serial, and the sites that typically do that throw an error for this wringer serial number.

What color is the " gyrator " ?

The list I have states that wringers of 1954 thru 1965 ser # 's were 5 digits followed by 2 letters. The letters of this list are exclusively

for wringers

The next alphanumeric breakdown list states for 1966 - 2013 serial #'s were six digits followed by two letters. I makes no distinction that

wringers were numbered differently than automatics , as does my first reference.

I can't recall the last production year for Maytag wringers, but it appears that yours is from 1966 forward.

In all cases, the first letter designates the year , the second letter designates the month

I have a more detailed serial # list breakdown ; unfortunately , at this time I am unable to grasp it in my paw(s).....

Might you be overlooking the  two letter suffix?

Stan,

David is quite the jokester.  When I saw this thread I thought he was motivated by remarks I had made this past weekend about common characteristics found in the first posts from new members, so I suspected a prank.

Apparently the E2LPS is for real.  I'm still waiting to hear if it landed in David's hands sometime late this past Sunday after he and Nate arrived home from Kevin's, or if they've had the machine for a while.

Guys, isn't it getting a little crowded out there on the patio??? LOL!

No comment :-)

Let's see...Westinghouse roaster, 2 Easy agitators, a chest of drawers, the Montgomery Ward D&M (hee-hee!), the Montgomery Ward Norge (off to Ross' soon), the E2LPS, the Easy Spin-Drier, and our patio furniture.

Nope, no problem here!  ;-)

From the research I've done, the model & serial numbers on appliances are like the VIN's on cars. Before 1980, you need the manufacturer's log to decode it. However, after 1980, they decode in a standard way. My Maytag E2LPS is a last model year 1983, so it was easy to figure out. Here is the >1980 serial decode list:

The breakdown for Maytag Serial Numbers is:

1st Alpha Character (9th position) = Year Manufactured
2nd Alpha Character (10th position) = Month Manufactured
