An eMail came in and I'm not sure of the answer:

I have a Maytag A408 model washing machine
Can you tell me what years that model was produced?
My mom and dad had a matching set in that horrible avocado green
I have a bet with my wife that they were produced late 60's-70's
She figures from the 80's....I say no way!

Teh 408 was the FabricMatic, I had friends that had a harvest gold set they bought in 1973 or 1974. I think this was the 2nd generation Fabric Matic from when they were introduced in maybe 1969 or there abouts.

The '08 series was introduced in 1975 and made until 1980. Simply a revised version of the '06 series, a crystalline dial knob, panel and dial color was gold. My aunt had a 408, replaced the TOL Speed Queen washer.
