Once upon a time, many MANY years ago, whilst visiting the home of a playmate, I, of course, took note of the family's laundry set-up.
They had a matched set of Maytags. They were quite old, but the washer was nonetheless an automatic with a rear-mounted control panel -- definitely NOT an AMP. I'm quite sure it had a center dial control, but the thing that most struck me was that the water temp selector was a vertically oriented TOGGLE SWITCH! I don't recall if there were speed and/or fill level selectors, specifically, but, if there were they too would have been matching toggle switches.
I remember white porcelain with brushed chrome and red trim.
I have seen nothing like it since, either here in laundry heaven, or in the cold, cruel outside world.
Does this ring any bells?
