Maytag Helical Drive Transmission Oil Specs.

Hey Guys,

Can anyone tell me the exact specifications for the Maytag helical drive "counterweight" transmission Oil?? (eg: Viscosity etc)

Maytag here are no help (as the parts division is now run by Whirlpool and they don't "deal with members of the public"!!) and their authorised spare parts dealers are absolutely hopeless and couldn't help me either!!

I want to know so that i can see about using a substitute if that's possible.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Leon:

This is a 90 weight oil. It is very common to find it here in the states. Now, go to repairclinic.com and look up a helical drive machine and have some shipped to you.

Helical drive oil

You should be able to use S.A.E. 90 or 85-90 weight gear oil. You can buy it at an auto parts store-it is sold for use in rear differentials and manual transmissions.
