Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I agree

Its a POS!
I also think that for two years old, Maytag should be responsible for replacing that machine.

Unless it was used really hard, it should not have leaked like that...

$$$$$

Either my neighbor did not want to pursue the issue with Maytag, or had lots of $$$ to just junk the machine. The replacement machine is a GE Top Load....hope she gets more than two years out of it.
I am glad I was able to show everyone 'when things terribly go wrong'.

and then they wonder

I don't quite know what that thing is, but if that is what Maytag has been offering lately, then they deserve everything Whirlpool is going to do to them.
Every last bit.
I have seen Haiers in better condition then that after two years of diaper duty over here in Germany.
That poor woman - I am sure she thought she was buing something worth the expense.
Someone should sent those photos to Maytag's competitors...

The same thing happened to my 2000 Amana. It was one of the first Amanas produced after Raytheon sold Amana to Goodman. After only two years, loud roar in the spin cycle and to boot three different reparimen couldn't diagnose the problem. Ultimately Repairclinic.com helped me diagnose the root cause. Bad main tub seal - what a surprise. When I finally got a repairman who could fix it, he refused since he said it would take more time than the machine was worth. Becuase I had a 5 year service contract, the retailer decided it was cheaper to replace the machine. And yes, it had the dreaded plastic outer tub.

Appears that any Amanas produced after Raytheon sold them were doomed. Still have the matching Amana dryer. It is going on 6 years old. Have to say that although Amana dryers since 2000 have had the worst repair record (per Consumer reports, mine has been fairly OK so far - just a squeaky idler pulley or something like that. Of course my washers get a much heavier workout than the dryer ever could........

So my next question is:

People today have so much $$$ that they can afford to P*SS $450+ away on a new washer every two years?
Are we as consumers accepting of this??
Not me!

And poor, poor Maytag can't figure out why they're in the crapper??
They deserve whatever Whirlpool brings down.
Whats the guys name that just resigned as Maytag CEO??
I'd take this broken washer and shove it up his ___!!!

What should she do????

I spoke to my neighbor today and told her that she should contact Maytag to make 'good' on her 2 yr. old washer that crapped out. I think Maytag should offer here some type of compensation via cash, rebate or replacement. That just is not right that after 2 years, you have to junk their product.
Will let you know if there is any response from Maytag(no response from them when I had Neptune problems last October!)
