Hi there,

I have been reading thru this forum to find info so I figured I might as well ask. I have inherited an electric DE806 Maytag. The things rules, runs great. Serviced it with new belts and whatnot.

Recently, when i go to start the machine I push in the button as usual and it will not stay on. I did some checking figured it was the switch so I purchased one on e bay and of course does the exact some thing. Either the switch I purchased was ng or something else is the matter.

Any ideas out there. I really do not want to dump this machine. its a beast and so quiet.

Many thanks

Chris

Which switch did you purchase and replace? The one behind the knob?
Those are hard to find, and several people here were looking for one a while back. So if you still have your old switch, you might consider selling it.

correct the one behind the button. if John is correct then this machine more than likely is toast :( I cant get that deep into it

It just needs a new motor. Replacement is simpler than a SOH and MUCH simpler than a Whirlpool/Kenmore.

The motor should be a very simple fix, especially if you swap it with another maytag dryer motor. One bolt, two clamps and half a dozen color coded wires. I've removed mine a few times, very easy fix. Any competent motor repair place should be able to fix it fairly easily

Hi Chris,
Keep the faith.
These machines yield to the power of the collective mind here on AWORG.
Cheers,
Chris (also from Boston)
