That looks like an MDB6000. It was the mechanical "electronic sensor" version of Maytag's initial IntelliWash dishwasher. I'd grab it!!! Was similar to the dishwasher used on the set of "Everybody Loves Raymond".
I've actually owned a maytag with that system. It was the mdb7100aww.. until it got replaced with a kenmore. The maytag cleaned everything i threw at it even in the light wash cycle. Take it while you have the chance! No dishwasher nowadays will compare these ones.
If that machine wasn't TOL it must have been damned close to it.
These Maytags were rugged machines. They are truly built to last. We've had Maytags before and they have all been fine machines that really clean your dishes perfectly without having to prerinse them first.
If the machine is operating properly, you'll be more than satisfied with it.
From having used a slightly earlier model, the only shortcoming to the design is that there is not a full-width wash arm under the upper rack which means that washing action delivered to some items in the upper rack can be compromised by large pans, bowls etc. in the lower rack. What the pictures do not show is the large wash arm above the upper rack, a carry over from the days of reverse racking in Maytags.
As a rule, I don't like to spend more than $100 on used DW or W/D's unless they are in excellent condition, i.e. clean, undamaged and in perfect working order.
this is a model with the tower sticking up in the middle. Our current Maytag doesn't have that and it makes it so much easier to load the machine. I don't think I'd ever have another tower type DW ever again because of this.
Yes, it has drawbacks, but it was another step along Maytag's evolution in dishwashers and loading peculiarities aside, Maytags can't be faulted for their cleaning performance, with the fine filters and those needle sharp jets of water.
