the 712 was the top of the line for Maytag during the "12" series production. 5 temp combos, deep tub, 4 speed combos, infinite water levels.
the '10' series was produced from late 1980 til 1984 and then the '12' series was produced til about 1989
the last of the 12's had the new orbital transmission with fast-short agitation stroke and smaller agitator.
