I’m back! Well, I managed to change the damper pads on my Maytag LA108 washer. Unfortunately, I have run into machine operations. At first I could not seem to get operational power, so I decided to remove the lid switch and jumper the two wires. Success! The motor activated and began machine agitation; however, it will not actuate the spin cycle in any selected mode?

Seeking advice as to what may be the issue. Note that during the disassembly, cleanup & servicing process I removed all the motor wiring connections from the motor start switch attached to the motor. I took pictures but may have errored in rewiring? Does anyone have a wiring schematic for this assembly (operation) or electrical test procedure? The timer appears to be functioning, at least during the agitation cycle - it was replaced circa 2005.

The tub level and water solenoid hoses have not yet been reattached…

Lastly, the appliance repair man came today and could not troubleshoot because I did not have a wiring schematic. He seemed to want to retire the old girl and sell me a refurbished unit. He offered to take my old machine off my hands. I would prefer to salvage her if all possible.

Appreciate any help I can get from those who know what they are doing. Rick

If it spun with no problems before you removed the wiring connections, it may have not been wired back correctly.

Here's the wiring diagram:

You can test the motor windings with an ohm meter. Ignore the slow speed test, you don't have that on your one speed 108.

Lastly, you can rig a motor test cord and check its operation. Here's the diagram for that along with a Youtube video.
