Maytag N2LP Wringer Trouble

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen.

I acquired this washer quite a few years ago. Serial number 395759C. I pretty much stuffed it in a corner until recently. Here is my only issue with it.

1. When I plug it in the wringer never stops regardless of lever position.
2. When I move the lever to engage the wringer operation it will spin the entire wringer head around in true exorcist fashion.

Being mechanically and electrically inclined I removed the wringer head. No obvious issues that I could locate. I did remove the rollers and cleaned/greased the bearings. Everything I have looked at so far looks to be in very good mechanical order. What else should I look at?

For what it is worth I purchased this washer with the intent of using it in my shop. I usually keep chamois in it. So the ability to keep them clean, then wring them out is awesome!

How does the wringer direction lever work?

I'm assuming it has a few sets of idler gears in the head? Pretty sure there is no clutch in there otherwise kids wouldn't get hurt when they stuck their hand in there.

So if the rollers want to constantly roll in one direction regardless of lever position, then when I attempt to reverse their rotation the whole head spins... I would make the assumption one of the idle gear sets must be bound up. Guess I'll start taking the wringer apart unless somebody has a better idea/logic.

I'll have to get some pics to post for everybody. My washer has some bullet damage. No holes, just dents. Try that with a new washer. LOL.
