Early run 3000

Jetcone : I love these space-age looking neptunes...and would like to get a set...
..so, are you saying that the model numbers will be 3000 or some 3xxx model number and what range of dates would be considered early, when looking at serial#'s? Thanks for the info, either way.

tecnopolis - lol..."unleash the force..." and let the seller know the Time has Come for Deliverance...to your residence asap....

I contacted the woman who runs the little thrift store I saw the threes Crosley's at to see if her husband had gotten anywhere with them. She said no, they had been very busy and they were still sitting there waiting on him to repair. I told her to give me a call when they were available.

I then contacted the seller of the Crosley set that was for sale here in town and asked him if the dryer was gas or electric, not that that was going to matter to me, and see if he also does delivery. Still waiting on his reply.

Neptunes - which were best series?

Jetcone ..on early Neptunes (series 3000) and the question I asked you ...never mind! I was thinking I was thinking(apparently not) about the later 5500 designs.

(early 3000 series may not be prone to mold and may be good machines...but from reading this Thread Number: 42481 " Maytag Neptune MAH3000AWW flooding", it looks like the overall design and functionality improved with later series..which were best? While hell freezes over on that question, I like many of the Neptune series, problems or not.

I was looking through my old files and came across my first Maytag Neptune.
One morning I was fast asleep when a friend called me to tell me his new washer and dryer were comming later that morning and he wanted to offer me his old dryer since it was still working. I asked him what it was, he said a Maytag Neptune and was I interested. Otherwise, it was going to the curb.
I hopped in my pick up and raced over to find a pristine dryer that only needed a good home.
I had already gotten a Frigidaire front-load washer earlier in the year and was still drying my clothes in the on-site laundry room, so this was something I needed.
I only had one 220v outlet in the studio and it was already being used for my stove. Well it took 2 seconds to figure out I needed a dryer more that a stove since the only thing I ever cooked with was a microwave or a toast-r-oven.
I fell inlove with the intelidry indicator and wondered why more dryers didn't have it. Seemed more logical that the "estimated time" most dryers use today. One minute they say 38 minutes left, come back in 5 minutes and it's now saying 10 minutes, so not very accurate.
Anyway, here she is.

I used it for a long while until I saw they had come out with a newer model with the swoopy backsplash, so I decided to sell her, and for good money too!
I later regreted doing that, but with the cash I got, it paid for a smaller Malber dryer that I stacked ontop of my fridgemore to reclaim some of my precious space.
It was also 220V.
I still have both of these today. Although they are not hooked-up.

It looks like your first Neptune might be a 4000 series, but not a MDG40000AWW...
Hope the CL Crosleys land (that's what they look like, stealth bombers) in your house.

I'll be tackling the belts on my Maytag; so, timely info. ( have no service manual..hope the web has plenty of info).

230ft3/minute! You are a wealth of info; I see a new Disney event : "Neptune's Den" ( a twirling and then accelerated ride between clothing and bedding...culminating in a windful musical accompaniment, "It's a World Full of Hot Air, Afterall", where riders get misted with a cool steam at the end of the ride, in a roomful of mile-high laundry. Ok, I'll go to my room, now.

Those dark Crosleys were kidnapped. Marvin?
