Maytag Neptune Resets Itself

Well after 10 loads yesterday it was time to do the king size pillows on the bed. Threw those 2 along with a single pillow in. Delicate cycle, warm/cold, extra rinse. Came back downstairs an hour later machine is done and pillows are still soaking wet. Damn it must have gone out of balance again and I will have to take the front off and reset the 4 switches. Tried 1st putting back into just a spin cylce to no avail. Just back and forth like it was washing again. Had this problem a couple of months ago, had local service guy come out and he showed me how to reset the machine. So I took the pillows out and put them in the dryer for a long cycle. I had to wipe the bottom of the dryer drum there was so much water in there. I then said what the hell and threw a load of sheets in the washer. Whites, hot/cold, extra rinse and maximum extraction. Well the machine went through the complete cycle and max extract. It completely reset itself and is running perfectly. I had no idea that this would happen. I don't think the repair guy last time had any idea that this would work on its own either. So I saved an hour of work this morning or another service call. I am pretty amazed at this myself.

Maybe this time the motor simply stopped to cool itself off!

Wet pillows weigh a ton, especially king pillows. Stick to doing an even number (i.e. 2) at a time, and distribute them evenly.

I was washing blankets for a friend of mine, they were too big to go in her machine. My old Neptune did the one blanket by itself just fine, but the other blanket, it would not. I had lots of service issues with it. My service guy said that it was the control board and replaced it at their expense. I have since bought new. It did not do certain things very well and others exceptional. Funny though, it went through the rest of the program just fine until the final spin. ??

I don't feel that it was a weight factor, but a distribution factor. I have had this similar problem with 1 pillow, 2 pillows or 3. It just gets too far out of balance and the machine shuts down in the final or actually only spin. I guess its built like this so it doesn't dent the cabinet or throw the cement block out of place. No problem during the wash and rinses and slow spins between rinses. It handled the load just fine. Actually I put the pillows back in after running a load of sheets thru a cycle and it went into the max extract on the first rotation, no back and forth balancing act. Personlly I have had very few issues with this washer and its matching dryer. Was involved in recall for door switch and interior door and 1 circuit board. None of the items replaced were defective on this machine. So no complaints here and boy do I do a lot of laundry. I keep saying to my wife I want to have at least 3 sets in the new house. I am preparing her for when we move I am going to start collecting. I have the whole basement for myself. 1500 sf of my own to play in. Yay!
