I hate these units. The Boards are junk and the clutches in these things are so crap. I am contantly out on these units for The Basket sensor issues and its the bloomen clutch.

Al least they have improved the clutch. This is a washer that either my customers hate with a passion or love completely. Very little middle of the road. It actually could have been a neat washer with just a little more in the thought department on Maytag's part.

I actually thought about taking a MAV (Norgetag chassis) washer and working in the motor drive system as a laugh. I couldn't even begin to imagine the washer getting up to those high speed spins... Probably end up with plastic shrapnel but, oh my, what a video it'd be!

Saw videos of this particular washer in action. It's got a very interesting wash action very similar to a front loader, but I've heard they are very expensive to repair and are very trouble prone.

It's a neat bit of history in the last days of Maytag...

Neptune TL-From what videos I have seen of these-they kinda look like a dough kneader in a bakery.
On the SSI World Shredder website-if you look at the SSI video of Washers and Dryers being shredded by a Primax Shredder-it shows a Maytage Neptune TL getting chopped to bits-then they show the "aftermath"Washer reduced to a busted up tub assembly and some cabinet parts and torn wiring harnesses.Never had one of these washers-so don't know otherwise.Never seen one turn up in the swap shops here.

Regardless of their mechanical / design demerits, I'd say the top-loading Neptune will prove to be the "Apex" for future collectors. So few of these were made and given the litany of problems attached to them, a good number of those have probably made their way to junk yards and crushers.

Get one and hang on to it, collectors!  You'll be able to charge anything for it in 25 years.
