I have a turquise Maytag powerfin agitator. I have seen pictures of the powerfin with a cap that covers the fabric softener dispenser. Where can i find one?

Plasticity

There are plastic filter versions that are everywhere.  The long neck chrome top filters are extremely scarce.  I have been offering up my soul for one for several years to no avail.  Scavenging old repair shops, salvage yards and thrift shops is the only hope.

There was never a cap that covered the fabric softener dispenser per-say.
There were, to my knowledge, three other options to the "standard" fabric softener/lint filter dispenser, these were used INSTEAD of the dispenser/filter cap, NOT over it.

1. A lint filter with a solid cap and NO fabric softener dispenser. This was definitely offered in turquoise.
2. A solid cap without a lint filer. I know this was offered in black, not sure if it was ever offered in turquoise.
3. A cap that had a slightly funnel-like opening in it to be used as a detergent dispenser. As far as I know, these were only offered on commercial models and thus were only offered in black.

Here's a diagram of the solid cap lint filter from a parts list. You could try searching for that part number in the usual places.

Search the interwebs for part numbers 2-5681 and 205681.

Follow where Google leads you.

Try Ebay, Try Repairclinic.com. Try Deydistributing.com. Try Amazon.
You could also try calling Larry at Modern Appliance in Parma, OH. 216-661-6966

Perhaps someone here on the board will see this and offer one up to you as well.

That's how we find parts for our vintage machines!

Cory, et al., In doing a little digging, it appears as though the turquoise lint filter-only agitator top debuted with the 10 series in 1980. Previous to that the only home model machine that didn't offer the lint filter/fabric softener cap was the the A106 beginning in about 1974 (with the introduction of the A107). I presume that the A106 most likely had the black power-fin with the black cap that was standard on all commercial models. The features of the A106 remain listed as the same all the way up to the end of production c. 1980.

Here is the feature chart of the 10 series at its introduction in 1980.
Notice that ALL models offer a lint filter but only 3 models offer the lint filter/fabric softener dispenser as a standard feature. Now, I'm sure that MANY dealers upgraded the lower models at little or no cost to customers to close a deal!
