Maytag Question

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Actually, the wringer washer agitator will NOT work in Maytag automatics due to the longer shaft length. I have a turquoise wringer agitator, and even after I removed the plastic ring from the base, it still would not fit flush with the tub in both the Dependable Care and '55 AMP. The narrow-post Gyratator in the Highlanders (such as the one on eBay) was meant for automatic use as it has a higher indentation in the base, before the spline, to accomodate the longer shaft.

Gary, another great catch! I have that exact same large-capacity PowerFlex agitator that I tried in my '55. Surprisingly enough, it wasn't as anemic at 54 OPM as I thought...

Turnover is fabulous!

Seee, Gary? Do NOT listen to the Whirlpool faction when it comes to the exclusive Gyrafoam wash action. they dont understand it. they will mislead and decieve you! dont forget to buy an extra turquoise agit for double the fun!

duckz and runz

Ken, would you have the page of the TOL washers also? I woul

Yeah, I do have that page and as soon as I can find it I'll scan it and post it. That machine you're talking about is the machine I WANTED to buy and SHOULD HAVE bought, but, in a moment of weakness, I went for the model right underneath it (without the buttons and extra choices)because my local dealer had it in stock and was offering it at a special price. It's a great machine and is still going strong, but I know myself better than that, always go for more buttons.

Congratulations Gary, that's probably one of the last great Maytags built. You will, however, be impressed with how much better the rollover is with the old turquoise agitator in it.
