I though I'd share my much beloved Maytag dishwasher here. This was actually my great grandmothers machine. After she passed away, my grandma used it for while. When she stopped using it, I made sure it was saved and not thrown away because I knew I would use it someday. Well that day has come, I recently moved out into my own place and now have possession of it. I can't say how much I have missed using this machine! Grandma recently got a brand new Whirlpool made Maytag, and although it was probably the best we could have bought at the time unless we were going to spend big money on a German machine, this one just blows it out of the water. It needed some freshening up, so I had the sump apart for a good cleaning. FYI, some of these pics are pre clean up. Enjoy!

Here is the pump assembly with the wash impeller shown. Seems smallish for the sort of performance that it has.

Good Save!

Nice machine, Cameron.

I presently have two belt-drive Maytag RR's and have had a direct drive like yours in the past. They are among the most unique and best performing machines ever made. They will handle a heavy boatload of food wastes and scrub the bejeebers out of anything.

I have always found the RR to be the easiest, and most intuitive, machines to load, as well as the most forgiving of misloading. There are specific places for bowls and saucers, and the bowl racking keeps bowls adequately spaced and prevents them from falling over. I can get more glasses and stemware in a RR than any other machine.

Deep Pots/Pans and roasters easily fit in the upper rack. One thing the MT RR does that no other machine can is it scrubs the sides AND the bottoms of pots and pans due to that full size wash arm OVER the upper rack. So if something runs over and bakes on the sides and bottom of a pot or casserole it will come out clean.

Have fun!!

My sister had the same dishwasher until 3 months ago. Oh, the hell she through at it!Bones, plastic twists ties, it was awful. At the last when it was running you had to leave the house. It was just a screaming noise.
The only reason she got rid of it was because of the noise and the springs broke in the door.
She has a new GE and hates it. She wants her Maytag back.

Hello Reverse-Rack lovers........

My first experience with the Maytag was the WC700 my family bought back in 1980.
Right now I own 3 of the reverse-racks and one of them is a Jenn-Air (direct drive).
I was fortunate to find a seldom-used WC400 on Ebay a few years back . It is so cool. Sounds just like the WC700.
Love the "Temp-Boost" in pic in the top thread!!!!!!

We've had mostly Maytag dishwashers since around 1990 and we have found them to be the best cleaning machines. We have never had a KA. And they are very reliable. This one should last you a long time.
