Maytag vs KitchenAid

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I have this model 300.....bought at Sears on clearance around 2003/4.....still running strong....never an issue....still in beautiful shape....I changed out the top rack from a scrap machine for the adjustable one....depending on the size, most big plates fit the top rack on one side....and especially cookie sheets fit nicely....very quiet too

have no use for those flip down side racks....nothing was short enough to fit underneath.....their not in the way, but could just remove them

I don't have my camera available but I can tell you that the interior of ours is almost the same except for:

The color is a dark gray in ours, including the racks.
The upper rack is adjustable up and downwards a few inches.
The tines on the upper rack right side can pop up or lay down to accomodate different types of items to be washed.
The float on ours is solid topped.

The model number is: MDB6701AWS1
Serial Number: 5018794

The pump cover, wash arm and heating element is exactly the same as the machine we have.

It also states "Maytag, Benton Harbor, MI", so I guess that it is a Whirlpool product? We bought it in Dec of 2008.

Mine was identical...

to the pictures posted...
prior to that, I did have a Maytag Jet Clean in another house, with the two full-size arms, and the center tower...
by far, the best dishwasher I have ever owned...
this one just didn't carry the tradition...

MT TT DWs

Sounds like you guys have the real MT design, as I mentioned this DW had a rocky start when MT introduced it in the early 2000s and they did a lot of improvements on it and they diffidently got better as time when on.

I did think that it was a shame that the design was not kept, it was a lot easier to install and service than most TT DW designs built today. And many gave little problem, the worst problems on later ones were electronics and as always on these cheap plastic control panels, handles and door latches that broke all too easily.

You all would have to jinx our DW by talking about these too much in this thread, wouldn't you?

This morning after breakfast we started up the DW full load. We selected Normal Wash with Hi Temp wash option. I sat down at the kitchen table to work on some paperwork. After about 30 minutes or so of running, I noticed that the DW never went into drain mode after the pre-rinse mode. Upon closer examination it seemed like the DW just filled up for the pre-rinse, then continued right into wash mode without an intermediate drain. So I let it go. 75 minutes later it was still washing away without ever draining the wash water. Finally at 35 minutes of time remaining the DW finally went into drain mode and then immediately into heated dry mode. So it appears this damn thing has been washing buy not rinsing. Since we run it at night I wonder how long we have been eating off of dishes, etc. that still have detergent residue on them?

So I tried the "Rinse Only" option on the DW. It filled, rinsed the dishes, then drained and the machine switched off.

Control Panel? Computer Board?

The model number is: MDB6701AWS1
Serial Number: 5018794

I let the DW sit for two days and plugged it back in. It still does not have any intermediate drains and refills. All the individual components are working i.e. pump, detergent dispenser, etc. Think it's the control panel or control board?

Thanks!
