I recently posted about changing a 1 speed Maytag washer to a 2 speed. Another member posted they used a 2 speed motor and a toggle switch for the speed control.
I am not mechanically inclined but I have a friend that is and willing to work on this--he knows about motors and wiring just not so much when it comes to washers.
The old motor has 5 wires: yellow, red, blue, white and black
The new motor has 6 wires: yellow, red, white, black, orange and brown.
Both motors have yellow, red, white and black in common, so does that mean the same thing for both 1 speed and 2 speed motors?
The difference is the 1 speed has a blue wire and the 2 speed has an extra brown and orange. What wires would attach to a toggle switch to control speeds? Do you need a 2 way or 3 way toggle switch? I have attached the schematic that was in the control panel--model #LAT9200BAM.
Thanks for reading this.
