Yesterday our dependable Maytag washing machine threw the ground-fault switch. Has anyone had experience with this? I prefer to use the washing machine while grounded (I'm sure there is a reason why they make them that way). The serial number is 181761 OM if someone wants to look up the age of the machine. I live in the Netherlands which makes it a bit difficult getting parts.

I had an issue with my GE dishwasher...

When I rebuilt the 1956 GE dishwasher, I kept tripping the GFI breaker it was hooked up to also - in my case it was a reversed-polarity problem...
If the machine has been working fine up until now, perhaps there is a wire that has worn and is touching the cabinet. Check the power supply cord, too; insulation is NOT forever....
Hope this helps!

A little bit closer to a solution...

Thanks for the tips, unfortunately after eliminating other possibilities I ran the problem down to the motor. Asked an electrician (also does work on appliances) and apparently the fault is in one of the windings of the electric motor. So, out it comes and down to the rewinding shop in Groningen.
So anyone have tips on how to pull the motor. The pulley has to come off and then hopefully the rest will be simple.
