My thought is if political postings upset people, those persons should refrain from reading the posts. We are mostly adults, and as such we should be able to take criticism, and the occasional jab at our beliefs, without resorting to histrionics. My take is that there are more people here supporting Obama than McCain, but the McCain supporters are more rabblerouseres.
If something someone posts hurts you, I think you need to look at yourself and see just why a comment in what ever form impacts your life. You can call me names and tell me to go to f'n hell and it's not gong to affect my views. This is one site that I can separate the political views form the person. I know some are rabidly anti Obama, yet that does not make me loose respect for the knowledge they offer with various machines.
I came here to learn about older machines and offer what little advice I can. What I found was a healthy vibrant community composed of people from all walks of life who freely offer to share there abilities and experience with all who come here. that is pretty special. Of course we all have strong opinions on politics, and I am not going to change my support for my candidate, but I do like to see other viewpoints to help me understand the other person better. In one of the more active threads I learned a lot about Mark (Lightedcontrols)and I can appreciate more of where he's coming from.
To remove the off topic aspect of this site would be to severely limit it. As it is now it's a well rounded group of people that I look forward to "visiting" with each day, and that includes warts and all.
