Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

WHAT COOL THREAD ! ! !

I'd never seen this thread and really enjoyed looking at all the estate-sale-appliance-photos AND the AW member photos!   Are the group shots from the 2002 convention / wash-in?  I recognize two members from Europe, Mike & Louis.  Also how fun to see my "neighbors" Rich (Golittlesport) and Gary there too!

I'd love to have a few of those machines!    That first KM, the 900/902 Maytags, that '57? WP washer, both the TL and FL Westinghouse's and that mid-70's KM with the window in the lid.  Is that actually a factory installed window?

Thanks Eugene for dragging this one out of the archives!

So how was suds returned, please -

Since the 123/124 were timed filled machines, I suspect the owners manual instructed the user to advance the timer to the wash cycle and press the SAVE SUDS button and then turn on the machine.

That's right, Ben. From what I've read, you put the machine on the time you want to wash for and turn on machine. What I could never figure out was how would it know you want a full or partial load since it was time filled? Also, what if you needed more water in the tub after suds returned? I guess just turn it back to the time filling and monitor it. ??

Would love to see one of these in action!

Thanks

I thought of the same thing for the suds return minus pushing the "Save Suds" button, but was wondering if that meant that the suds valve was energized all the while it was agitating in wash because if it were not, the default hose for the pump to suck through would be the rinse drain hose.  My Aunt's Highlander from 57 or 58 was pressure fill and had a "Return Suds" section on the timer. Once the suds was returned for the last load, the toggle switch was flipped to "Drain Suds."
