It appears there was an error re-writing the index page for the Super Forum. Thank goodnes it happened in the Super Forum. If this were the Imperial or Deluxe Forum I would spend the time recreating the page manually, but since the posts in this forum are off topic (and some of them are a complete waste of bandwidth and space), I'm not going to take the time for this page. The page will rebuild itself as new topics are added. Actually since we've grown so much I was considering not archiving Super Forum threads and deleting the ones that are in the archive to save server space for more important threads, as soon as I get some time to do some coding I'm going to make those changes.

It appears I was not totally correct in my prior post. Sorry about that. =).. I meant to say Robert will be deleting the archived Super Forums. I cant help but wonder if my original face pic thread created the system blurp. After all, there was something like 425 responses. I for one don't want to create more work for Robert. Please let us all keep in mind that this site is Robert's baby and we are able to enjoy this site because of his dedication and hard work. Let's do what we can and not make more work for him.

Take Care

Excuse me, but I do not agree. This site is more than Robert's baby. You do not need his invitation to join, at least not yet anyway. Robert has had plenty of offers of financial help. Several of us have contributed in the past. If the site is too much for Robert to handle on his own, he needs to get a co-administrator. Just because Robert has told us that he spends most of his time in the pink pages does not mean that the Super Sand Box is the back of the bus or maybe it does. If the member pictures took up too much room, we could have been told. While there have been some off topic posts, there were many about detergents and other laundry-related topics. There was a lot of other stuff that easily could have been removed or never posted, but now the good is gone with the bad. Maybe in the future we need as individuals, to find someone in the club who actually gives a damn about our personal trials and email them when we need to share instead of using up bandwidth. Speaking of which, narrow waist and leg bands can be a real pain also.
Sic transit gloria mundi. Gloria Mundi throws up on the bus.

anyone can pay for a website, and pay for design. for a site like this one to flourish takes magic. without the love and enthusiasm of our Webmaster, there is no AW.org! this site is a gift.

We Could Have Been Warned

But "we" have, several times. Each time the site crashes/goes down and or a particular section has problems Robert has said the site is bumping up against bandwith limits. Check the archives (while they are there), the threads are easily found.

After each posting by Robert on this matter, everyone pledges to do better and help keep things in order, then the same things start all over again.

Internet 101, words do not take up that much bandwidth, pictures however do; especially full screen width/non-optimised ones. We have a high speed connection and still many pages/threads take awhile to load. Sometimes the pictures are so large they make reading any wording near impossible as they overwhelm cell spacing.

There is a wealth of various means to post pictures, make contacts and let the world know of one's latest personal sucess (or set back), and or share photographs of widly off topic things (such as cars), without filling the group's servers.

Oh Dear, you guys, the threads had nothing to do with it. On rare occassions if the system goes down right smack in the middle of writing the index page, it wipes it out. Its very rare, but it happened a couple of times before. Its very annoying, and a lot of work to restore the original page, but I can if need be.

If there is a problem with posting too many pictures or anything else like that I will let you all know.

But we do have another issue that we need to resolve and I will start a new thread to discuss it.

We need to enforce the true reason for having the Super forum, to wit:

"The Super Discussions Forum for topics relating to all laundry detergents and additives, old and new, as well as off topic. conversations such as other vintage appliances and vintage electronics, etc."

Note that this is an appliance website and the purpose for the Super forum is for everything appliance related. If pic posts, breakup posts, weather posts, political posts, etc. decease and desist, then we don't have to worry about it. I know there are a few moderators out there and they should be given authority to simply delete all non-appliance starts.

We can have a open discussion forum on Yahoo or another site to chat about whatever it is on our minds...
