Do you all use the recommended amount of the Mexican Detergents (one cup)? I just bought a bag of Blanca Nueves and one cup sudses up quite a bit in my 1960 Kenmore. It works fine, but am I using too much?

I've found most Mexican detergents to be very sudsy; This is less of a problem in my TL'er than my FL'er. As Kenmores of that vintage are prone to suds-lock, you might want to try cutting the amount in half. My favorite is Ariel.

By the way, I grew up with a 1960 Model 80 Kenmore pair (with the one-touch cycle buttons). What model do you have and might you be able to post a picture of it? I love those old KMs.

You learn how to dose the wonderful Mexican detergents after a while. Typically I can hardly pass the bag in front of an old Whirly/'Kenmo or 1-18 without sudz-locking them. I seem to have the best luck with Foca. Also the weight of the fabric makes a difference. A load of towels in an old Whirly/'Kenmore will sudz-lock no matter what!

Keep in mind the hardness of the water in your area as sometimes that makes a big difference. Back in Atlanta, a cup full of Viva in the SQ could sudz-lock it and yet that doesn't happen in Roanoke where my water is modertately hard.

I typically won't use more than 3/4 cup in any machine prone to sudz-lock.

I usually use Viva to which I add a few scoops of phosphates.
I keep carpet cleaner defoamer in case there is too much suds,
but it does clean very well.
