Well at the estate sales today I found this beauty unopened, its never been plugged in before. It was marked $8 but since today was the 2nd day of the sale it was 1/2 price. I know, I know, $4 is a a lot to pay for some old mixer.

HOW CUTE!!! Looks like baby version of its big sister. I wish my 1970s Burst-o-Poswer had looked like a baby version of the big brother Mixmaster.

And and to top it off at another sale, for 50 cents each, I found a full/unopened can of 1957 Blue Liquid Wisk and a full/unopened bottle of Lux Dishwashing Liquid. I can just feel my hands getting softer as I wash up the delicate pink liquid!

I always loved teh packaging style used for Liquid Wisk. I wish teh toilet bowl powder cleaners later on hadn't disgraced the Liquid Wisk can style by putting their product in similar looking cans. Although the plastic bottles of Wisk were easier for me to handle, I still liked the hard can.

I love the mixer... Hmm.. Something to hunt for on ebay...I have a kitchenaid mixer that i got for $12, but i just don't think it workes as well as my old 1975 Sunbeam did.

Lubricate

Robert,
You'll add years to it's useful life if you lubricate before using. (The Mixer!) Oil ports are on the right at the side of the handle and on the right, just under the fin.

Robert, congratulations! I know the MIB world can be very exciting; I received a crash course in it recently (if you saw my thread on the VCCC forum) and it is like stepping back in time!

Isn't this the second MIB Sunbeam you've found at the sales, or were there more? ;-)

I had one just like this (except in white) that I got from my Grandmother's house when we were cleaning it out. I loaned it to a friend in college to make mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving, probably in 1987 or thereabouts. I never got it back, and had long ago written it off.

Just last week I got an email from the long-lost friend, asking how I was, and wanting my address so that she could send the mixer back to me.

Robert,
What amazing finds!
Too cool.
Is the mixer Pink? It looks pink here in Atlanta on my monitor.
Oh, I went back and read the box. It is Pink. How cool.
I also love the LUX and Wisk!!! How does this stuff sit for this long, and not get used???? Where they looking out for you?
Looks like you had a very fun day! Thanks for sharing.

Austin, I have found other MIB full size Stand-Mixmasters both Sunbeam and Hamilton Beach at the sales. This is the first hand mixer I have found MIB.

I've had the white one for years, I use it mainly to whipped cream if I'm doing a small batch or I'm in a rush and don't want to bother getting out one the big mixers. I have to admit I do really enjoy using my mixers though.

What kind of oil?

I have a chrome MixMaster Junior that is mint looking and I was going to send off to be redone. It works just fine. Just smells a little when I run it. I thought I'd try to lubricate it first but didn't want to chance with the wrong kind of oil.

Thanks for your help.

Ralph

Looks like the Twin Cities are it for awesome estate/tag sales. Methinks I'll have start coming to the Cities a little more often.
